Gameplay
CP is pretty easy to get into. Just like every other arcade puzzle game, controls consist of mainly directing your avatar left, right, up and down in order to get to the end of the level and reach the highest score possible. Do no fret, there is more to the game the further you advance in the levels. You start with your main avatar nicknamed "Froggy" and get slowly introduced to the mechanics throughout the first levels of the game.
It will quickly start to challenge your mind the more you progress. And it also becomes quite addictive! With bonuses to unlock new avatars and "perfects" to aim for, there is so much to achieve during your runs that you'll find yourself 100% immersed in the game before you even know it.
In total you will have 100 levels to enjoy, each one of them with a unique layout. They will have you jumping with excitement, clenching your controller with frustration and even filling you with pride after completing that extra hard level that was bugging you.
Simple concept with a high ceiling difficulty, exactly what we need!
Music
It is impossible to talk about Cyber Protocol without mentioning the awesome soundtrack you can find in the game. There are more than ten songs that will accompany you and help set the cyberpunk mood. Personally, I am a big fan of retro-synthwave songs and I must say these hit the spot.
What's even better is that the dev implemented a jukebox in the game. Want to chill and relax to the OST? There you go. They all have their own atmosphere and will make you close your eyes just so that you can enjoy the 80's vibe.
Highscores
Finally, you can compete locally with up to three of your friends in the arcade mode or try to have the highest score on the Global 20 ranking. The arcade mode lets you replay the levels either in easy or hard mode. Easy has unlimited lives and checkpoints but is only for local highscores whereas the hard mode has limited lives, no checkpoints and the missions are random! But if you want to compete globally that's the way to go. Show them who's boss!
Conclusion
Cyber Protocol is a stimulating addition to the arcade puzzle genre and will have you up wanting for more after each level.
